200 KM Range Electric Scooter in India – Bangalore-based EV startup Simple Energy has introduced its first electric scooter, the Simple One. The scooter boasts a maximum range of 236km and a top speed of 105km/h.
It retails at ₹1,09,999 (Ex-showroom) and is available for pre-order on the company’s website for ₹1,947. Currently, it will be sold in 75 cities across 13 Indian states, with plans to expand to 175 cities within the next year.

The Simple One is 100% domestically produced, with a capacity to manufacture 10 lakh units annually.
It comes in four color options and has a 30L storage capacity that can accommodate a helmet and some shopping. The scooter weighs 110 kg.

About Simple One Scooter
Bengaluru-based electric vehicle start-up, Simple Energy, has announced the release of the Simple One electric scooter. Pre-bookings for the scooter can be made starting from 5 pm today, with an initial pre-booking fee of 1,947.
The pre-booking process is open across India and the fee is refundable, according to the company’s official statement. Pre-orders will be given priority delivery once production of the Simple One begins, the company noted. The Simple One can be pre-booked through the company’s official website.
Motor and Battery
The Simple One is equipped with an 8.5kW motor that delivers a maximum torque of 72Nm. With acceleration from 0-40 km/h in just 2.95 seconds, it is the fastest scooter in its class. The 4.8kWh battery provides a range of 236km and is easily removable for convenient charging anywhere.

The product comes with a 3-year warranty for the battery, charger, and scooter. The battery management system (BMS) safeguards the battery from voltage and current fluctuations and tracks temperature.
The company is developing a fast-charging network called One Loop, with a charging speed of 2.5 km/minute. The Simple One features a comfortable ride with its telescopic front fork and symmetrical progressive mono-shock rear suspension.
The braking system, developed by Simple Energy, includes two disc brakes with a stopping distance of 27 meters. The 7-inch touchscreen display is user-friendly and customizable with a dark mode and custom themes. It also allows for hands-free calls and music playback.
Price of Simple One Scooter
The Simple Energy One is slated to launch in India in September 2022 with an estimated price range of Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 1,05,000. Competitors in the market include the Okaya Fast, BGauss D15, and OLA S1 scooters. In addition, the Honda Activa 7G motorcycle, which is also set to launch in September 2022 in India, is similar in nature to the Simple One.

The Honda Activa 7G is equipped with a 4.8kWh battery pack, which provides a range of 203 km in Eco mode, and a 4.5kW motor that delivers 72Nm of torque and a 0-40 km/h acceleration time of 2.95 seconds. The top speed of the motorcycle can reach between 98 km/h to 105 km/h, depending on the tire choice.

The Simple One offers various high-tech features including 4G connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, over-the-air updates, music control, call control, SOS messaging, geofencing, document storage, remote telemetry, fast charging location, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), preventive maintenance, a “find my scooter” feature, vehicle tracking, vacation mode, schedule mode, and group ride capabilities.

Simple Energy has adopted a minimalist and futuristic design for the Simple One, with obvious resemblances to the Ather 450X, especially in its triangular headlight.
It has a flared body with elaborate cuts and a pointed tail unit headlight, and the grab handle is thick and sturdy.
