Citroen makers recently revealed the all-electric eC3 in Indian market. This new model is based on the already popular C3 hatchback and is set to be exported to other countries as well. As electric vehicles at boom in market, the hatchback category is starting to include more relevant options such as the Citroen eC3 and its only rival is the Tata Tiago EV.
The Tata Tiago EV is currently available at a starting price of Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom in India) and it is expected that the price will go up four percent. As for the Citroen eC3, the company will be announcing its pricing soon. The expected Citroen eC3 price ranges between ₹ 9.00 Lakh – ₹ 13.00 Lakh depending on the variant selected. We will be comparing these two electric hatchbacks to see how they compete against each other in every aspect.
Citroen eC3 vs Tata Tiago EV: Body dimensions
When it comes to size, the Citroen eC3 is bigger in every aspect when compared to the Tata Tiago EV. The French electric vehicle is 212mm longer, 140mm longer in wheelbase, 56mm wider and 68mm taller than the Tiago EV. Additionally, the eC3’s trunk is 75 ltrs larger than the Tata’s electric hatchback. The eC3 comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, whereas the Tiago EV has smaller 14-inch steel wheels. However, the Tata Tiago EV is 161kg lighter than the eC3 in weight.

In terms of powertrain options, the Citroen eC3 only has one option while the Tiago EV offers two options which are classified as medium-range and long-range. Both vehicles use permanent magnet synchronous motors, but the medium-range option in the Tiago EV has more power at 61hp than the eC3’s 57hp. The long-range option in the Tiago EV is even more powerful and produce 75hp, making it the most powerful of the two vehicles.
Interestingly, the eC3 boasts the highest torque at 143Nm, which is 29Nm more than the Tiago EV long-range’s 114Nm. Despite this, the Citroen eC3 has a slightly slower acceleration from 0-60kph that take 6.8 seconds compared to the Tiago EV medium-range’s 6.2 seconds. This is surprising that the Citroen eC3 has superior torque.
Citroen eC3 vs Tata Tiago EV: Battery charging time
All three Electric vehicles have different battery size and can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes using a DC fast charger. However, the larger battery in the Citroen eC3 but it’s takes the longest time to charge when using a regular 15A wall socket. It takes 10 hours and 30 minutes to charge the eC3 fully from 10% to 100%. This is longer than the other two vehicles.
When it comes to charging time using a regular 15A wall socket, the Tata Tiago EV medium range is the fastest, taking only 6 hours and 54 minutes to charge fully. Falling in between is the Tiago EV long-range which takes 8 hours and 40 minutes to charge from 10% to 100% on the wall charger.
Additionally, Tata includes a 3.3kW wall box charger as a standard feature for the Tiago EV, the Citroen eC3 does not currently come with one.
